Dear G.W Carver Middle School Families,
On behalf of the PTSA, I would like to welcome all of you to the 2014-2015 school year. We are very excited about this year’s school SPIRIT theme “I am Carver” because it means that each of us have a role to fulfill. Students and Teachers fulfill their role by attaining academic excellence. As parents (perhaps we have the most versatile role), by being vested in our children’s education.
Furthermore, studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the most important factors in raising student self-esteem and academic achievement. We realize, however, that each of our families is unique – with its own priorities, needs, talents, and time constraints -- and so we try to provide as many different kinds of opportunities for parental involvement as possible. Whether you can contribute financially or volunteer your time, your contribution makes a HUGE difference to our children’s middle school experience.
This year we have bigger projects, goals, and expectations, and we are confident that the Carver Family will take pride in our collective accomplishments by showing support. You can show your support by becoming a member of the PTSA- the membership form is available online, the Membership Envelope is attached to this packet. Kindly complete and return the envelope or form to your child’s homeroom teacher. Our goal is to have100% membership throughout the entire school! Becoming a member does not mean that you must attend every PTSA meeting. It means that with your membership dues, you are contributing to making our school a better place for all. It also means that at any given time you can be part of PTSA’s decision making process, if you so choose.
Another way to show your support is by attending our PTSA Meetings – “Every Child, One voice” is the National PTA motto. Your support and involvement is your child’s voice. Our First General PTSA meeting will take place Friday, September 12th, 2014 at 8:30am in the New Cafeteria. Join us and share your ideas on how to make our school better. Find out how you can participate in our events and programs and meet the other Carver parents that are saying “I am Carver” too.
Don’t forget to sign up for email communications to receive all the information you want to know about G.W. Carver Middle School activities, news, and resources. (Sign up under the 'Get Involved' Tab).
I thank you in advance for your support and look forward to working with you in guiding our students through another successful school year!
